Andrew Fischer is a German national and was born in 1964.
He has a degree in Biochemistry from Cambridge University, where he was a Scholar and a Blue. He also has an MBA in Finance, with Distinction, from the Wharton School. Andrew started his career at Bain and Company and, after a number of years, joined the Buy-in Fund at Apax Partners, holding a number of senior positions within investee companies.He left Apax in 1993 to start Rubicon Partners, where he is one of the three founding Managing Partners.
Rubicon is a specialist, hands-on, investment firm that specialises in acquiring complex industrial businesses. They have acquired 55 businesses, often in portfolios, since their formation and have been backed by Cinven, 3i and RBS. Rubicon also owns 68% of their own investment vehicle, Rubicon Partners Industries LLP (RPI), which currently owns 10 businesses.
Andrew is CEO of RPI and is responsible for the executive management of the Group, particularly focusing on delivery of business strategy and strong financial control.
Andrew has a keen interest in using entrepreneurship to help reduce poverty and improve people’s lives. He is also a passionate believer in the power of mentoring to help budding entrepreneurs achieve their goals.
He is married to Catherine and currently lives in the UK with two sons, aged 12 and 15
