Vice-President of Finance and Administration

Julia started her career in commercial banking, before becoming the assistant to an entrepreneur - establishing and managing one of his subsidiaries.  She then decided to make a career move into education and has been involved in all facets of tertiary education, including academic and administration, for over 17 years – in Canada, the U.A.E. and Qatar.  As most of the institutions that she has worked for have been in their start-up phases, she is proficient in developing policies and business systems to maximize efficiency and productivity, as well, as preparing budgets to rationalize the use of scarce resources, without compromising on quality.  She has also consulted in strategic planning, undertaken marketing research projects, and has been a judge for the Gulf Marketing Effectiveness Awards and the Middle East Business Achievement Awards.

She moved to Doha, Qatar in 2007 where she is currently employed as the Vice-President of Finance and Administration at the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar.  Her role involves the management and leadership of the finance, facilities and human resources departments, for a college facility of 22 buildings, 5,500 students, over 700 employees and the control of a substantial budget.  She has played an integral part in the recent development of the College’s Qatarization program, which involves the mentoring of Qatari employees.

Julia has always been involved in community service from volunteering for local events, to the establishment of the Al Ain Professional Women’s Association, to the various NGO’s that she supports in developing countries.

She has BA, B.Comm., MBA and PhD (Marketing) degrees from Canada, Australia and the U.K. and is a Chartered Marketer.
