What We Do:
The Arab Partnership programme in Algeria aims to support the broad reform process launched by the Algerian government in 2011, with a focus on the rule of law with projects in areas such as the prison reforms and implementation of community sanctions and measures as an alternative to custodial sentences. To help develop the next generation of Algerian entrepreneurs, we work with UK organisations such as Mowgli and also Handicap International to improve access to employment for youth and women with disabilities throughout Algeria. Furthermore, we are working with Echorouk TV, one of the most prominent private TV stations to have been launched recently to enhance this station’s ability to deliver high standard quality programming which will increase ordinary Algerian’s ability to have their voice heard in the media, in addition to working with Radio Algerie, through our implementing partner, the BBC Media Action, to support Algerian Radio to transition from a state broadcaster into a Public Service Broadcaster through conducting a comprehensive training programme customised to Algerian Radio’s journalists and managers.
“I was really impressed by the quality of Mowgli’s mentoring sessions and happy to see the genuine impact this project has been able to have during the first of activities in Algeria. I am looking forward to even more exciting collaboration in the future!”
